Cosmetic composite bonding
Does your smile make you feel uncomfortable?
If the look of your smile makes you uncomfortable, you may benefit from cosmetic bonding. Bonding is a procedure that makes cosmetic improvements to chipped, worn, and misshapen teeth.
At Holbrook Dental and Implant Centre, our dentists can use this advanced treatment to enhance your smile with instantly visible improvements. Cosmetic bonding is a non-invasive process wherein a type of resin is reinforced to your teeth to fill gaps and generally improve the appearance of your smile.
What is the bonding process?
- The first step is to get your natural teeth whitened if you desire, before beginning the bonding process since artificial materials, like bonding resin, will not respond to whitening treatments.
- On the day of your appointment, your dentist will choose the resin shade that most closely matches the colour of your recently whitened, natural teeth.
- Next, in order to make sure the resin adheres well, your dentist will lightly roughen the surface of your teeth. You should not feel any discomfort, as this is a superficial technique. Lastly, the resin, which is in a taffy-like form, will be modelled to the surface of your teeth and then light is used to cure, or harden it.
Why choose bonding instead of different dental cosmetic treatment?
One of the best things about cosmetic bonding is that you usually only need to make one visit to us to get an improved smile, especially if the restoration is very minor. Cosmetic bonding is a non-invasive process that maintains the overall structure of your teeth. This makes for a more comfortable experience, particularly for those with dental anxieties because it does not irritate the teeth or gums.
